Dirty Little Secrets

Today on Oprah it was all about the dirty little secrets about motherhood that no one talks about to warn you before you have kids or after you become a mother you don't talk about either. Things like feeling alone, feeling inadequate, or that your not getting everything done that you expect you should be doing. Things like "what did I get myself into" or any little complaint. And while I thought it was a good show and it made me feel like I am not alone in this quest to raise good kids and that it is okay to not LOVE every second of being a mom; they failed to say that through all the annoying things that we do there are the precious moments that one could not experience without being a mom. And it is those moments that make all the car pooling, the throw up everywhere, etc all worth it.

So I thought that I would take a moment and mention a few of those precious moments that I am grateful for.
1. I have two boys that are very good eaters
2. Both boys have given up their Binky's without tears (Beckham did not even ask for it last night).
3. While reading a mommy loves you book Cooper kept jumping into my lap to give me hug and kisses.
4. Beckham melts my heart with his beautiful smile and gorgeous eyes
5. Both boys can sing many Hymns

I am sure there are lots but you get my drift. I do feel frustrated, inadequate and even like I no longer have an identity. But I would not trade motherhood for anything.

Opperation: Bye Bye Binki

Beckham is almost 2 1/2 and he loves his Binky. In September, when I was out of town, Chet was brave enough to take Beckham's blanket and Binky away (unless it is nap/bed time). That has worked out great. But now we are worried about Beckham's teeth, they are starting to pull forward. We on Thursday when I got his Binky bowl (yes when he sleeps he has a bowl with a few Binky's so he can get one in the middle of the night)so when I got his bowl there was only one Binky which was "broken" (we had cut a slit in it). Beckham was confused and said he needed a new Binky cuz this one is broken. Chet and I looked all over but wouldn't you know we just could not find one. We tried to prepare ourselves for a long night of crying. But Beckham was fine, he took longer to fall asleep and kept saying he needed a new Binky. He woke up once and the new Binky was the first thing he said. We were able to tell him we will find one later. So last night we thought for sure he would be tired of the "were looking" thing. Again he was fine and he slept all through the night. I don't know how long he will be calm about this. But for now were are calling this a success!!

Castle Rock Duathlon

At the end of Feb. Stephanie and I participated in our first Duathlon. We started at Tuacahn and ran 1.5 mile then biked 12 miles and ran another 1.5 miles. It took us 1:15 min. I don't find running enjoyable so 3 miles was about as far as I want to go. When I got off my bike my hands were numb so it took me a couple of tries to changes my shoes and get them tied. Note to self get the zip laces for my running shoes. We had a great time. Chet and the boys were so supportive. The boys got so excited every time we passed them. What a blast!!

Chet and I have been married for eight years now. We live in Las Vegas and love it. While we miss our family we do not plan on moving away from Vegas any time. Chet works at a Tharpe and Howell Law Firm and enjoys his case load. I get to stay home with the boys and most of the time I like it. Twice a week I teach aerobics at 24 hour fitness. I really enjoy having something to help me relieve my stress. Plus I know that twice a week I will have to go to the gym. Right now my kids are just running around crazy, half fighting half playing. I guess I should go intervene.
Oh well, back to the blog. Chet and I are very different people, there is not much that we have in common. Having said that we do both love roller coaster and cannot wait for our next trip to Six Flags.

Garden Center

I have been wanting Chet to make me a box garden and he told me that he would not until I keep my shoes organized for a couple months. We all know that is not going to happen. I went to CA this past weekend and while Chet was getting ready for the day Cooper said to Chet,"Mom wants a garden but you won't make one until she organize her shoes on the show rack." Chet said, "yep that's right" Cooper, "I will do it for her." And then he matched up all my shoes and put them on the rack. What a thoughtful guy. He is so sweet.
